Very straightforward and fast Everything was set up quickly and arranged very well however there was clear hesitation with visa sponsorships despite knowingly interviewing an immigrant which was a bit disheartening
- How do you think you meet the requirements for this role?

HR screen video call, three video calls with different employees, and a written assignment. I did not get to the sample assignment phase. The middle round calls were forty five minutes of intense behavioral questions.
- How do you manage multiple tasks and deadlines?

AVOID!!! Like others, I have been taken through a four round interview process, only to be ignored when waiting for an outcome. Then I received a generic email from a ‘no-reply’ mailbox saying I had been unsuccessful but it was the same email I received for a role I didn’t interview for. HR, who previously very response, just ignored my follow up emails requesting an update on the outcome. Finally they responded to say they had progressed with another candidate. Is this how you communicate to someone who you spent rounds interviewing? An utter joke and says a lot about the company and why (according to one member of staff) it’s had such a high turnover. Very disappointing and unfortunate and if this is how they treat candidates, it’s clearly not a good place to work. They need to treat prospective candidates with the respect they give you and stop wasting people’s time, especially given that you are a small fish in a big pond. And one day that candidate might work for one of their ‘members’.
- Basics such as why BSR?

I had three interviews with director level staff plus a screening with HR. The first interview went into some depth about my values and experience. The subsequent interviews were repetitive and it was clear that they hadn't shared their feedback with each other. I felt that it was uncoordinated across geographies with little communication between teams, which was a red flag for me. I waited for a few weeks for feedback, in which time I had interviewed and accepted another offer with another company, who offered 30% more base pay. In sum, BSR felt quite messy and their pay is below market value.
- Why BSR? Have you worked overseas before? How do you work with others that have conflicting views?

Had an initial "task" that preceded any interview itself, and was part of the screening process. I had 2 hours to complete a powerpoint that went into aspects of sustainability for a company, and why they should implement changes. I had to write it as though upper level management (who didn't care about sustainability) were going to be the recipient. About a week and a half after this, I had an actual interview/screening, which lasted 30 min. They said that if I made it past that, that there would be a couple more rounds.
- Standard screening questions, such as last job, what did you like about this posting, how do you stay organized, are you interviewing for other positions currently.

Terrible, terrible experience. BSR put out a job ad for a Associate position in Singapore, but the interview process has made me question how seriously they take their Asian markets and has made me drop pursuing this job prospect entirely. It’s a shame as I was made to do 3 rounds of interviews and a written test- so a lot of investment on my part over a 4 month period. Interviews are auto-scheduled, and just getting a response from an HR personnel takes multiple follow-up emails- who all respond ambiguously. I have not heard back from them, but have decided to drop this prospect altogether. I understand that the company may want to keep the interview process non-transparent to ensure a fair assessment of each candidate, but it is a bare minimum to expect active follow-up, or at least, a prompt response to a follow-up email on the candidate’s side. This interview correspondence has reflected extremely badly on the company and is definitely an indication of the work culture at BSR - I question all HR matters (performance reviews, progression etc), especially as this is a diff market from their HQ in the US. Judging from the other reviews, it does not look promising either. And it goes without saying the irony of it all- that this is a consultancy that claims to help corporate clients to be more socially responsible ( with a big focus on the “S” aspects of ESG). This interview process strongly indicates otherwise, and I do feel it’s driven from the management’s end. Which again, is ironic as BSR’s work is classified as management consulting. The interviews with the senior consultants were pleasant, however not enough to outweigh the management red flags. To the management - sustainability is a big focus now and there are many players entering the field. If you wish to continue to expand and attract good talent- please start with treating prospective candidates better!
- 1. Tell me why you are interested in this role 2. Which area(s) of sustainability are you most interested in

Very intense interview process - a phone interview, 2 panel interviews and a writing test. BSR wanted to fill the position quickly and so interviews were scheduled back to back, requiring the applicant to shift things around in their schedule to accommodate this process (which is not a bad thing when one is excited about the prospect). I went through the whole interview process and then they "ghosted" me for almost 3 weeks - no word, no updates, nothing. I wrote the HR person who responded after a few days with a one line response indicating that the position was no longer being filled. I responded asking for more clarification and information and none was provided. Quite a disappointing experience and a red flag for prospective applicants.

3 teleconference interviews with 2 senior leaders and one peer level role. Great conversations, felt positive after discussions. After multiple inquiries and 3 months later, finally got a response to my requests that someone else was hired with a better fit. Opaque process, poor communication and response. The recruiter who arranged the interviews never responded to any of the inquiries.
- The team is very collaborative, how would you fit in?

The interview process was prompt and seamless with quick turnarounds and responses / scheduling between the different stage interviews. It took some time to hear about a final verdict though.
- - Why BSR? - How do you manage your time? - Where are your areas of expertise?

It was a long process. Interviews were as expected with all the standard questions. But it took months in between interviews, and as with many companies, you had to follow up pro-actively or risk not getting a response at all.
- Why do you want to work here?
