I came across BNY at a diversity conference that I had been to.
A few weeks after the event, they sent me an email saying that I'm in their "shortlist". Then all of a sudden they sent me a "code pair" email with the only possible options that particular week. I chose a few options and they didn't confirm any of those time slots. Afterward, they sent another email asking me to fill out another scheduling form, and this time they had dates for two weeks in the future. I selected a time slot and now they confirmed it.
The day before my interview, they said two other senior members would like to interview me as well, each for 60 minutes. It was a pain adjusting for 2 additional hours of interviews for the next day, since I had classes, and I was barely able to do them. The interviews weren't anything special, just behavioral and leetcode easy/medium questions.
The recruiter reached out to me the following week, asking to talk on the phone. However, they never showed up for that phone call. Then they emailed me, asking if I need visa sponsorship, which I did, and the next day they rejected my application.
I found it insulting having to jump through so many hoops to adjust to their schedule only to be judged based on my citizenship status. The recruitment and scheduling were terrible and without any transparency whatsoever. I know people from my university who are US citizens that were offered internships at the conference itself, whereas I had to go through so many rounds taking so much time just for nothing. BNY definitely needs to get its act together, especially if they want to put up a stall at a "diversity" conference without actually upholding the diversity aspect of it.
