    Avantages

Learn the industry - Project span a large variety of areas. This exposure sets you up for success at other companies. But it also exposes you to many different skill sets and allows you to select which area you want to focus on. Open environment - At any level, you are able to share your opinions in any meeting and ask any questions. It is really nice to be able to just ask the CMO or a VP a question. Smart... people - Analysts at vistaprint come from top schools and are very smart, ambitious and being promoted quickly. It is great to be challenged by your peers and learn from them everyday. The analysts also have a great community. Work/Life Balance - While there will be days you need to stay late for a deadline, for the most part you are able to set your own schedule as long as you get your work done. What's next - While obviously a sensitive area, the outside respect for Vistaprint analysts really validates your decision to work here.

Change- Since we have grown so fast, we seem to just be adding more products and features to the site without a real structure. The website needs a serious revamp and modernization in order to compete moving forward and change seems to happen slowly. Growth - The growth the company has been able to achieve is slowing and as the company expands it adds more process and slows change. It also means that there is... more separation between you and the leadership. Talent- While I think there is still very good talent within analytics, vistaprint definitely focuses on making sure they have the best talent for some areas and not others. And I worry that as the company grows, it will be harder to attract and maintain entrepreneurial talent which it has had success with in the past. There are also too many marketers for how much work can be done by the development team.

    Avantages

It is impossible not to learn voraciously in the first six months The work culture emphasizes speaking your mind and disagreeing using data Work like balance is ridiculously good (approximately 8 - 5) Management is incredibly flexible and advocates for career development The talent is very impressive and everyone is willing to take a meeting Analytics is a really nice community of friends that hang out outside... of work all the time

    Dérouler

    Inconvénients

Innovation is limited due to poor structure and an overemphasis on optimizing existing business practices Upper management talent is limited and Robert's absence from the headquarters is noticeable Marketing is the lowest in terms of talent but largest in role and analytics and capabilities are largely support Overall, talent is steadily decreasing as the best are continuing to leave

    Conseils à la direction

Reallocate resources to ensure better innovation and take an honest look at what kind or real risks the company is taking Reduce the number of marketing positions and increase the talent bar

    Avantages

Employee development - There is a tremendous focus on employee development and employee retention. If you have feedback to make your job more interesting or relevant, your manager will work very hard to make that happen because attrition in the e-commerce industry is high. It is mandatory that you have weekly 1 on 1's with your manager and it is very common to have development meetings (just talk about how you are... growing, how your projects fit into your future plan, what skills you are developing) monthly. Smart people - I struggled with the hierarchy of "top talent" and "everyone else" at my prior company and it is really refreshing to work at a place where everyone is really smart, ambitious and moving up quickly. People are really generous with their time and it is very easy to find mentors. Valuable work - The work you do is both highly valuable to yourself, Vistaprint and pretty much anyone else out there after you leave. It is actually encouraged to push back on analytics requests and ask how projects will add value to the company. It is incredibly easy to move across analytics functions. What's next - While obviously a sensitive area, the outside respect for Vistaprint analysts really validates your decision to work here. Recent analysts have left for McKinsey, Facebook, CoGo labs (incubator), Wayfair (e-commerce company), a pHD at Duke, Cornell Law, and creating a start-up that was backed by a VC.

    Inconvénients

Cons – Old Vistaprint - There are so many pieces of the site that were built quickly and with a focus on quick revenue and not long term customer value. While that has changed, we are only on a long road and it can be hard to overlook ugly designs and a site that looks dated, which takes a lot of time to fix. Expanding size - We will hit a billion dollar company that year and that means the hyper growth is hard... to maintain with that there is more of a separation between leadership decisions and you. Limited access to external consultants - While functionally almost impossible to differentiate from consulting, your clients are entirely internal. This can be beneficial because there are fewer of those high-stress, needs to be done today type deals but has some drawbacks in terms of extending your network.

    Conseils à la direction

I am hearing too much "they" and not enough "we." The company is amazing and I think we have good transparency but not as much as there was before.
