    Avantages

    I have used this site for few years,but off late too many issues with the identity and other details.They want you to write your complete name no spelling mistake in profile details.You face picture even if you don't want to upload.

    Also too high fee and too low paying jobs as low as 1 $.

    Once your account suspends the turns a blind eye towards you and would never resolve any issue.

    Inconvénients

    It is total waste to be on this site, so many freelancers that you will get a response once after 1000 times and then out of those if you are lucky the conversion ration will be 5%.

    It is just going to be worse.They have more clients more commission but they don't want to trim down the commission.

    Avantages

    Easy to use web search facilities, features many good looking opportunities and updated very frequently.

    Inconvénients

    I have had my profile rejected for work twice, and the reason given - lack of experience/relevant skills although I can see several jobs listed on the site which I am able to complete without difficulty.

    Give people starting out a chance to build up work skills and experience with entry level jobs and leave the decision in hiring to the customer instead of refusing profiles as if you are the job being applied for.

    Avantages

    Fun loving team. Everyone gets along. Your opinion and ideas are highly valued. Everyone is willing to help. Team is always growing and you are able to explore other opportunities in the company. Plus, because Enterprise is still relatively young you see your work directly impact our success. Not to mention, all of the perks Silicon Valley-based companies offer; Unlimited PTO, catered lunch, remote options, casual dress, etc.

    Inconvénients

    Upwork's Enterprise organization is relatively young, occasionally you run into the typical growing pains of a start-up, for example not having certain processes and procedures in place. That is all getting better with time.

    Avantages

    There is a lot of work to bid on all within your control in terms of time or place. A lot of the work is fast turnaround

    Inconvénients

    Most other people will outbid you. Its hard breaking into it initially. Lots of sneaky people that don't want to pay.

    - The company lives by the ideals of remote work and its advantages
    - Extremely friendly people, similar to one big family

    Inconvénients

    - Lack of any real processes with onboarding and training
    - Management/Leadership team has poor vision, wants to take action but unclear on proper steps to take
    - Poor communication among different organizations within the company
    - Unclear what the role of many people within the company is
    - So many promises made, so little followed through
    - Leadership is very self-important, yet many don't seem very excited about what they're doing

    Avantages

    Exemplary & talented individuals scattered throughout the organization. The current front runner in the freelance talent vertical. A feel-good mission & vision of spreading economic opportunity to remote areas of the globe through freelancing.

    Inconvénients

    Upwork lacks unity & cohesiveness among business units. The merger failed to unite Elance and oDesk causing a quagmire of political skirmishes and a revolving door for employees, particularly leadership. Fixation on near-term goals abounds as the monthly ledger gains priority over market transformation. Half-hearted relationship to the community of freelancers. Product faces persistent challenges, including site outages and mass exodus from loyal Elance & oDesk freelancers. Sales is missing leadership and whimsically changes market focus, leaving key verticals vulnerable to competition. Marketing is lacklustre, uninspirational, and fails to capture and evangelize the ubiquity of freelancing. Leadership is disconnected with the freelancer community, raising rates without a true understanding of the challenges a freelancer encounters.

    Marketing: If trade secrecy or competitive advantage is not a part of Upwork’s marketing strategy and the best customers don’t want anyone else to know that they’re using Upwork talent as an integral extension of their workforce, then the market is still up for grabs. Outsourcing is still very much a dirty word in talent circles and Upwork has neglected to tackle this inefficient bias against remote & international work head-on. The company that can make hiring teams of remote works as efficient, innovative, commonplace, & sexy will win the market.

    Sales: As an organization that places such emphasis on enterprise revenue, the sales team lacks strong leadership, direction, & resources. This is reflected in the over 85% churn the sales team has seen over the last 2 years. The learning curve to sell teams of freelancers across an infinite number of remote work use cases is steep, as is learning the strategic sales process that involves several executives within each organization. The successful sales cycle has not been replicated and typically takes over a year for the deals that Upwork considers worth it. Ambitious sales professionals will not stick around if commissions for a 1.5 year sales cycle are only paid out for just a few months after the deal closes, while the company sees repeat revenue long after commissions are paid out.

    Product/ Services: It’s still not easy to hire on Upwork. The main issue is that users don’t know what they’re getting in terms of clients or freelancers. However, the companies that have overcome the “cavet emptor” bias of online marketplaces have offered transparency as a means of gaining consumer confidence. Upwork is still missing this transparency at the freelancer skill and client collaboration levels. Until Upwork can create a system of metrics that gives users insight into the quality of freelancers & clients that allows for apples-to-apples comparisons with similar profiles, the platform will remain Yelp-like in her ability to deliver actionable consumer insights & Craiglist-esque in the unpredicatability of human interaction in market exchanges.

    Avantages

    Upwork has a good social mission and a fun and energetic corporate culture. Good open door policy by taking away personal offices. You can work right next to the CEO. Fun events, free lunch every day, Wed is work from home. Everyone is working for the same goal, so there is a lot of cross functioning.

    Inconvénients

    Internships did not lead to full time positions, so that was disappointing because I loved working there.

    Internships are a great way for a company to get cheap labor, but it is also a good way to test out and groom a possible candidate for a position. Have internships lead to full time jobs.
