    Avantages

    Avantages

I did a 6 month co-op and a summer internship. Great culture and work environment, lot of great perks. I was treated as a full-time employee as a co-op and given meaningful assignments.

    Inconvénients

Could use some more guidance from supervisors

    Avantages

The people - I have never worked with a nicer, smarter bunch of people. People care about each other, we have a laugh and we work hard. It's a great working environment.

Management that actually care - we have a London leadership team made up of the most senior people in the office and they really care about employee happiness. I also feel really supported by the management of my team.

I am proud of what I do - at TripAdvisor you are encouraged to take ownership of what you work on and it's a pretty flat structure across the business, which I enjoy.

There are great perks to working here - healthcare, dental, £850 towards fitness, free lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays, fun office events, thoughtful little gifts, rooftop terrace.

I work as part of a global team and I really feel like that. Although we work across the world, we have fortnightly meetings, help each other out and check in regularly.

    Inconvénients

The career progression could be clearer, but management is aware of this and are working on better growth plans, I also don't think this is an issue specific to this company

    Conseils à la direction

Keep doing what you're doing :)

    Avantages

I worked at TripAdvisor's Boston office for around two years and loved it. My colleagues were smart, kind, and a pleasure to work with overall. The culture was great--frequent events and programming really made you feel like part of a community.

The office location in the North End was also a huge plus.

    Inconvénients

Unclear career growth trajectory for non-technical new grads.

    Conseils à la direction

    Keep up the good work!

    Avantages

    - Good benefits (health and dental insurance, free food 3 times a week, snack and beverages in the office, fitness reimbursement)
    - Smart and fun people to work with
    - HR and Experience Manager made strong effort to organise social activities in the office and contributed to make the environment more friendly and pleasant

    Inconvénients

    - No opportunities of career growth: the company has been talking about a career plan since months but so far no concrete success stories and no clear explanation on what you need to do to get promoted.
    - Zero chances of transfer within different location: you can get all the support from your local managers but upper management at the home office won't help you at all to make it happen. Don't even start the internal interview process, it's a waste of time.
    - No strategic long run planning: projects and products are launched to be shut down only after few months (e.g. sales of Instant Booking).
    - Turnover in Dublin office is very high: when the sales department opened in 2016, very smart people were hired but most of them have left already. And the saddest thing is that the company doesn't do anything to retain talented people.
    - Lack of transparency from the company, despite one of their main value is "We believe in transparency".

    Conseils à la direction

    - Invest in your people. Employees are not irreplaceable but if every month 2/3 people leave and the company doesn't offer anything to retain them, how can it be successful in the long run?
    - Invest more in your Customer Service and listen more to your employees. They are the ones who are all day on the phone with your clients and their feedback is the most valuable one.
    - Make career growth and transfer opportunities real, not only on paper.

    Avantages

    - People are lovely

    - London office is in a great location

    - It’s nice to work for a company which everyone knows and likes

    Inconvénients

    - A real lack of ideas and innovation: the company hasn’t moved with the times and shows no sign of doing so

    - Takes a long time to get anything done as management will not make decisions for fear of upsetting those higher up

    - Extremely US-centric. London feels like an after thought rather than an integral part of the business. There’s an unspoken rule that to get anywhere in the company you need to move to HQ.

    Conseils à la direction

Shake things up, starting with the very top. Get people in who can bring new ideas and a fresh outlook. Admit your mistakes so you can take the company forward. Doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results is the very definition of madness.

    Avantages

    -Fun, young environment.
    - Great snacks, decent benefits
    - good effort to train newbies in sales and take risks on unproven people

    Inconvénients

    - Share price has tanked by half since I left the company. Whether this is testimony to the company and its direction, I’ll leave it for the reader and the market to decide

    - Great if you are in a non-sales role, everyone wants to work with Tripadvisor. If you were in a sales role (especially for business listings) it was a cutthroat and stressful environment. Think 2 hour call times minimum daily. Overhired at one point in time to make numbers for revenue but lack of feasibility in business model Led to the company Having to let go of a couple of people
-Business development guys basically dialing for dollars
    - Guys are still stuck in their same roles 3, 4 years in
    - Managers stuck in their same roles... with limited trajectory for growth

    Conseils à la direction

    - The fundamental execution on Business Listings was a mistake, but the company has realised that retention/optimisation is now a better option without too much turnover of acquisition reps. Bookdirect was in the books for 3 years in and failed to take off. Stick to what the company does best by keeping OTAs happy and build on volume of reviews

    - Balance diversification of revenue streams with keeping your core customers happy (the OTAs). Hold off on the greed to monetise too soon while sacrificing core revenue base

    - Tripadvisor has tried to monetise from most angles. The OTAs, the hotels. For all the reviews that the company collects, one core area is overlooked - monetisation direct with gamefication of your customer accounts. (Think the uptake of mobile games, virtual gifting with the integration on lafourchette, viator etc and with online avatars) With the vast amount of users, there are bound to be some Super users who might spend on these things... You might find it a feasible option. ;)
