Je travaille chez Pentland Brands à plein temps (Moins d'un an)

    Avantages

One of the best work places I have worked in. A company that always looks for what is best for its employees as well as what is best for the business.
People are always on hand to help if required. When starting at Pentland, I was made to feel part of the Pentland family straight away.

    Inconvénients

Communication has been a draw back over the end of last year. However that has drastically improved in recent months.

    Conseils à la direction

Clearer communication, especially in times of change.

J'ai travaillé chez Pentland Brands en Contrat Permanent (Moins d'un an)

    Avantages

    Discount off various brands
    Holiday Entitlement
Some good people to work with.

    Inconvénients

    Low salary - high expectations
    Rubbish Break entitlement
    Not enough staff
No support given by direct manager
    Reluctance to communicate honestly
Inexperienced senior management with no long term vision.
    Ridiculous workloads
    Toxic blame culture.

    Conseils à la direction

Review your senior management and particularly in the retail sector. Be honest with employees about job losses and store closures. Toxic blame culture and people managers with no people skills. Good talented people are leaving due to bad senior management, lack of effective communication and downright lies.

J'ai travaillé chez Pentland Brands en Contrat Permanent (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

    - Great Facilities - car park is good and always space, post room
    - Open plan office
    - Longtime staff are very loyal to each other
    - Staff shop
    - Strong Business Analyst team

    Inconvénients

    - Senior management inexperienced in some business critical areas
    - Exec a little detached from the realities of how to support inexperienced senior management meet their KPI's
    - Location not great for South Londoners
    - Gossipy culture
    - Diversity and a female presence seriously lacking at board level - take a look at the photo on site for context :-|

Je travaille chez Pentland Brands à plein temps (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

    Great People
    Great brands
Potential to grow, develop (both individually and the company)
Awesome facilities in London based office (coffee shop, restaurant, staff shop, gym, pool, chill out areas). Offices in Nottingham & Sunderland do not have the same facilities, but are modern, creative environments which are a pleasure to work in.
    Flexi working

    Inconvénients

Going through restructure (again) and very slow getting it done.
Communication seems clear at the time, however, reflecting back on the comms, what is said is not always what is meant, or intent is not clear.
Pay lower than standard. Pay not consistent across the business with similar roles across the brands.

    Conseils à la direction

Make the communication a lot more clearer so there is no room for interpretation or the intent is not clear. If found to be the case, to address. The overall business strategy is very clear, but the comms on the impact for individuals has at times ambiguous and arduous.
Great brands and great people are in the business who really care, many are working above and beyond silently.

J'ai travaillé chez Pentland Brands en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 3 ans)

    Avantages

The veneer- lake, pool, gym, product discounts, canteen, football pitch etc.

Objectives of change efforts - Pentland is no longer the "Great Place to Work" that it was a few years ago, the transformation the company is going through has put that to an end. That being said, the company will likely be more efficiently organised once the changes are complete. Thus allowing it to address major problems that previously hindered the company; brand offices and functions being too dispersed, brand acquisitions too cumbersome and digital not being remotely central enough to the business.

Brands - Working with and getting exposure to the different brands and learning what they're all about is a great thing that Pentland provides.

    Inconvénients

Speed of change - the transformation efforts have been incredibly slow, so for many people it would be best to avoid Pentland for the short/medium term while this change is being sorted out. People have been leaving the company at an alarming rate and many have been mistreated.

Location - it can be a shame to be far from the dynamism of central London (there are no good pubs in Finchley Central). Pentland is often chosen by people who live in North London and want to spend less time commuting.

    Great company with bright future.
Lovely office with gym, swimming pool and shop.
Promotes flexible working (depending on the manager)
Promotes innovation (depending on the manager)
    Great people.

    Inconvénients

    Location.
    Slow decision making
    Micro management

    Conseils à la direction

Get feedback from the ground troops, not just senior managers.

J'ai travaillé chez Pentland Brands en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 10 ans)

    Avantages

    - Onsite gym
    - Generous discount on brands
    - Lovely offices
    - Great colleagues
    - Lots of benefits, should you be interested (Cycle to work, Denplan, etc.)
    - Flexible working arrangements available

    Inconvénients

It used to be a great place to work, but has sadly lost its way. It's now a very frustrating place to work. There is no single vision, everyone is pulling in separate directions. It felt like change for change sake rather than improvement.

There are development opportunities if you're lucky enough to get on with your boss, otherwise forget it! Lots of favouritism goes on here. I was treated very well, but my colleagues didn't seem to have the same opportunities.

Gossip is rife! At all levels of the business! Leads to lots of miscommunication...

Finally, wages are a joke compared to industry standards. We're told great benefits make up for it, but if you don't use them, that's not much consolation.

    Conseils à la direction

Exec team - Decide where you want to be 5, 10, 15 years from now. Decide this behind closed doors. Define the plan of how you'll get there, create the programme of works and then create your communications plan and stick to it (changing only if the environment calls for it, not because it seems like a good idea at the time). One message from the exec team, not everyones interpretation of the plan. Be transparent, people value honesty even if they don't like the message.

You've lost good, loyal people. You can get them back and you can be great again.

J'ai travaillé chez Pentland Brands en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

Facilities - gym, coffee shop, parking and shop in the building
Great working environment - very social and team orientated

    Inconvénients

Exec team make decisions without fully understanding implications on the business and people
Disconnect between what is being said and the reality / resources being invested in to deliver the strategy successfully
    Loyalty is not rewarded
Salary lags behind the industry standard

    Conseils à la direction

Make sure you are equipping your employees with the necessary tools / resources in order to deliver against the ambitious strategic objectives and targets.

Je travaille chez Pentland Brands à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Extremely creative place to work with great people focusing on brand building.
Working at Pentland feels like being part of a family, with opportunities to work across functions, brands and teams globally.
Positive wellbeing is encouraged with gym classes, networking events and flexible working.
Senior leaders engage and inspire through regular presentations, communications and collaborative sessions.
Having worked at various companies I’ve never been somewhere so welcoming, from the gatehouse to the CEO.
The Chairman also spends a day with new starters to share the company history and amazingly remembers everyone’s name.
Finally, the work produced internally by the Creative team for the brands & company is inspiring and great to be a part of.

    Inconvénients

Needs more agile working across the business for more efficient projects, there has been a lot of pressure during the last quarter. Although starting to see a shift and more focus on this heading into 2018.

    Conseils à la direction

Keep celebrating successes of teams and individuals, as well as continuing to empower them!

    Avantages

Multinational company, matrix structure, great brands, vision, excellent facilities (free parking, postal services, indoor gym and swimming pool, outdoor tennis court)

    Inconvénients

Salaries are low, canteen food quality is generally (very) low, north London/not close enough to the high street/restaurants

    Conseils à la direction

More clarity on the roles and responsibilities
