Je travaille chez Monster Worldwide à plein temps (Moins d'un an)

    Avantages

Middle Management is driving progressively positive change to culture as well as the development process. I also love being able to help design and build web products that positively impact everyday people's lives.

    Inconvénients

There are a fair share of employees who seem to treat the workplace simply as a place to work rather than a community that has the potential to be so much more than that. This is getting better though.

    Conseils à la direction

Keep speeding up. Build now, refine later. Invest in the products and marketing your brand. Brand strength is crucial to this space, and Monster has lost that recognition with the current generation.

J'ai travaillé chez Monster Worldwide en Contrat Permanent (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Very flexable with WFH schedule and office hours were very flexible. Work life balance is definitely a plus with this company.

    Inconvénients

Needed better direction and overall strategy. Also needed more accountability at each level to drive mission statement.s

    Avantages

Learning a new industry, fun with co workers! Office Campus is beautiful

    Inconvénients

When every person on a team except for 2 quit you probably should just run. However, I took the job and believed the BS my director and Sr director gave me as to why ppl jumped ship!! It comes down to the director. She is not only not capable of her own job but can not manage ppl. I have only been here short time but she gossips and tells me negative things the SR Director says or thinks. I do not like having him be used as a 'I'm telling Dad role'. When starting I was lead to believe I was taking the rold of someone incompetent. Now I see its the impossible work load, lack of support and pressure of having a boss hate you that lead to an entire team quitting.

    Conseils à la direction

Get a new director for this role, get some ppl who are passionate in these roles. Lets start getting a head and not falling behind. To the Sr Director I would go talk to the ppl who left and get the real story before barking orders.

Je travaille chez Monster Worldwide à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Great Great people! I worked with some really awesome people I would have loved to have more time with many team members. In the beginning the work life balance was great but that quickly changed about 2 years in.

    Inconvénients

When I first started here I loved Monster but since the team re org I find that my only solution was to leave. The chaotic micro managing and the sr director becoming bitter before my eyes were my main motivators to move on. Sadly there is no way to give constructive criticism as management is not able to see their part. After having no support no one to ask questions to and realizing I can do all that I do on my own it was clear i could make more money have more control and work in a better organized company.

    Conseils à la direction

Talk to your people maybe your CEO isn't the best but try to be a good leader for your employees. Don't be what you always complain about. Also, it would be nice if the VP just maybe said HI to his staff. Your staff struggles because you do not support them, train them or offer an environment where taking ownership of their roles is even possible.

    Avantages

    * You can work on some interesting projects.
    * You can work with some intelligent and competent people.
    * You are working for a "known" company. Name recognition is high.

    Inconvénients

    * Non-stop upper management turnover and issues.
    * Nepotism has always been a problem.
    * Its best days are behind it. Does anyone think Monster has a vision anymore?

    Conseils à la direction

    * I would offer them some, but they wouldn't listen.
    * Ranting at company meetings is not great for morale.

    Avantages

    * The Maynard office, an old mill, is beautiful if you like historic buildings
    * There are some excellent people working there in various departments
    * Senior management has improved significantly since Sal took over
    * You're working on products that help people get jobs
    * It's not rocket science

    Inconvénients

    * Technology/Development owns the products, not product management, despite what they try to sell
    * There are a ton of problems to deal with every day, and management is interested only in critical maintenance. As a result, product managers spend at least half their day dealing with problems and tempers, pleading with Dev to fix an issue.
    * Monster's been having multiple layoffs each year for the past few years. Be careful if job stability is something you value, even if you get very positive reviews.
    * Monster has a lot of people, and trying to get something accomplished takes monumental effort.
    * Some of the managers will try to bully you, something I've never seen elsewhere at tech companies.

    Conseils à la direction

    * Give the product reigns to the product managers, and base their compensation on the products' success or lack thereof.
    * Clean house ONCE, and then stop the blood-letting.

    Avantages

Flexible work hours in product development, plus fun, young, and fast-paced.

    Inconvénients

No direction, changing direction, communication vacuum between management and workers about future direction of company and lack of true commitment from senior managers beyond what's expected to appear professional.

    Conseils à la direction

Love it or leave it. Get involved. Be there.

    Avantages

Good opportunities for advancement, the organization is mostly a meritocracy, vacation time is above average if you can find the time to actually use it.

    Inconvénients

Monster is a big company and it struggles under it's own weight. In a market that's filled with younger, more mobile companies, innovation at Monster is stifled by corporate bureaucracy.

    Conseils à la direction

Monster is a web 1.0 company struggling in a web 2.0 world. Adapting current best practices and focusing on getting beyond the keyword/zipcode job search would be a step in the right direction. Focusing on user experience and interface would go a long way toward increasing the consumer value proposition.
