    Avantages

    Extremely unstructured, with no vision and poor management style, Edelman Brussels is a pure disappointment. Team is composed of a senior management layer with limited vision and experience, supported of interns and juniors with limited career growth.

    Inconvénients

    Not a place for senior talent.

    Avantages

    Money, package, office location, that's it.....nothing else

    Inconvénients

    Attitude from management is really poor and there is no two-ways communication, for a company speaking of creativity and innovation, top management shows neither of those qualities or openness to them. Average turn-over of people in the past half year was probably 10 people. They can let people go even if they have worked for them for years from 09:00 to 20:00 or later! Not to speak about the horrible and unprofessional attitude they have when they ask someone go - they literally kick the person out the same day and don't even allow him to send a goodbye email to his contacts.

    Try to reform your office culture otherwise you're doomed to keep on loosing people.

    Avantages

    High-paced job in an environment that fosters fast growth. Teams are typically quite supportive of all members. Training is good and employees have a clear growth track.

    Inconvénients

    I unfortunately watched clients take advantage of many situations. Team encouragement could be better, and an emphasis on morale should be stronger. Teams often understaffed. Compensation is low for the amount of work done.

    Place Account Executives on multiple accounts. It is draining to be placed on one account for 100% of the time.

    Avantages

    Structured agency, global big accounts, good visibility to expose your work, reasonable benefits (better than small PR agencies)

    Inconvénients

    Long hours, lot of pressure, work can be difficult depending on your line manager, takes a long time to be promoted, an ever-growing amount of tasks to do, "please clients no matter what" mindset which can be very tiring and frustrating on the longer term.

    Avantages

    - It's difficult to hack in for first few months in the company esp. if you don't understand team dynamics and get a hang of internal politics quickly, but once you do and prove your mettle you become an indispensable resource to the team and they will treat you like a king/queen (as applicable, of course)
    - Very talented pool of resources (from bottom level to higher up the hierarchy)
    - Good team work
    - Opportunity to learn in a diverse environment; a chance to work on multiple accounts and with cross functional practices on interesting stuff everyday
    - Marquee clients (They have to be rich enough in order to afford the retainer Edelman charges)
    - A lot of international clients
    - Very efficient and effective client service resources as well as decent support service teams
    - Not a coverage generator machine unlike other “agencies”; in fact Edelman works more like a corporate and less like an agency
    - Solid strategic counsel (point may not be relevant for an employee standpoint)
    - Decent compensation (as compared to other companies in the same industry), free food, very happy and fun work place
    - Worked with multiple practices like Public Affairs, Development Sector, Healthcare, Corporate and Energy. My vote goes to the Energy team, Hands down it’s the best team to work for, Smita Joshi being the lead

    Inconvénients

    - Internal politics and fierce competition among team members
    - Subpar media relations
    - Delhi: very heavy on leadership
    - Skewed delegation of resources and disparity in work allocations – Some resources are worked up just because they are good at something while there are some ineffective resources who survive and flourish in the company just by being in their managers’ good book
    - Multiple dot-line managers; hence there is less visibility of your work to your reporting manager (in GFS) who is responsible for your appraisal. A note of advice: always make sure to do personal PR and show off on your abilities to your manager and make sure h/she gets 360 degree feedback from all your dot-lines ahead of your appraisal; be proactive and set up meetings for him/her
    - Not really a con; but though of mentioning: Very snooty and snobbish crowd; if that’s not your thing
    - Sometimes unclear/indirect communications especially from senior leadership and managers
    - Hierarchical set-backs: Most seniors throw their weight around and are good at delegating work rather than working on client stuff or providing directions to the team while juniors grind and learn from peers to support client servicing (Some AD level people are so efficient that they only have superficial knowledge on the client, industry, or media landscape and are only focused at clearing MTRs and doing GFS related work; oh and did I forget to mention pull you up internally for no reason)
    - While factors like these are concerning for most; at the end of the day there are amazing people who can support and help you grow; again once you hack in on the survival and growth strategy within the company no one can stop you. It will help you grow holistically so much so that you can fit into any organization after this and bring in the best practices there as well; if you know what I mean.
