Avantages
This is a great job for a physician assistant if you want to be in the OR exclusively, doing cases in multiple specialties and working with a variety of talented surgeons. Compensation and benefits are very good, and the company is positioned for growth in the future. The executive team has a big vision for making a substantial contribution with regard to efficiency and productivity in surgery, and it's exciting to be part of that. Plus, the leadership really listen to the employees when making decisions, and that seems to be rare today. I am part of a great team of PAs, who are a delight to work with. With almost no paperwork to do, all my time is spent clinically, and not hours completing notes in EMR.
Inconvénients
As in any surgical position, hours can be long and unpredictable. Evening plans can be a problem, but I've found my coworkers willing to step up if needed. Also, if the day goes long, they try to make the next day light if possible. The hours are reasonable, overall.
